Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect only what you choose to send us through a form, plus basic anonymous traffic statistics. We do not sell your information, we do not run advertising networks on this site, and you can ask us to delete what we hold at any time.
Riverside Digital Studio ("we", "us") is a web design and development studio based in Auburn, California. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are and how to reach us

2. Information you give us directly
We only receive this if you choose to send it.
| What | When we get it | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Contact form, project enquiry | To reply to you personally |
| Email address | Contact form, newsletter, checklist download | To respond, and to send the newsletter if you asked for it |
| Phone number | Contact form, if you provide it | To call you back if that is easier |
| Business name and website | Contact form, audit request | To understand your project and prepare a quote |
| Your message | Whatever you type into the form | To answer the question you actually asked |
3. Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website, our host records basic technical data when a page loads. This keeps the site running and secure.
- Server logs. IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time, and the referring page. Used for security, spam prevention, and diagnosing errors.
- Traffic statistics. Aggregate counts of page views, referrers, countries and device types. These are not tied to you as an individual.
4. Third parties who process data for us
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
| Service | What it does | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, security, DNS, and Turnstile spam protection on our forms | IP address, request data, standard server logs |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Anonymous traffic statistics | Page views and referrers. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual profiles |
| Resend | Delivers form submissions to our inbox | The contents of the form you submitted |
| Riva (site assistant) | Answers questions and can pass an enquiry to us | Whatever you type into the chat. Please do not enter passwords or sensitive details |
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Cookies and tracking
- Essential only. This site stores a small preference value in your browser to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- No advertising cookies. We do not run ad networks, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking scripts on this site.
- Analytics without cookies. Our analytics provider measures traffic without setting cookies or building a profile of you across websites.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is still no industry-agreed standard for how websites should respond to it. Because we do not track visitors across other websites in the first place, our behaviour is the same whether or not you send the signal.
7. Third-party tracking across websites
We do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activity across different websites through this site. Some pages link out to other companies and may include a referral code that tells them we sent you. Those companies have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
8. How long we keep things
- Enquiries that did not become projects: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Client project records: kept for the life of the working relationship and up to 7 years afterwards, for tax and legal reasons.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: retained by our host on their standard schedule, typically under 30 days.
9. Reviewing, changing or deleting your information
Email privacy@riversidedigitalstudio.com and tell us what you would like. You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete what we hold, where we are not legally required to keep it
- Stop sending you email
- Provide a copy of your information in a portable format
We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm your identity first, so we are not handing your data to someone else.
10. Your California privacy rights
Riverside Digital Studio is a small business and currently falls below every threshold that triggers the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA. We extend the following rights to California residents regardless:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, why, and who we share it with.
- Right to delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of - but the right stands.
- Right to limit use of sensitive information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CCPA defines it.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of the above. We will never charge you a different price or provide a lesser service because you asked.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@riversidedigitalstudio.com with the subject line "California privacy request". An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written proof of authorisation.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are transmitted encrypted, and access to enquiry data is limited to the studio owner. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send passwords, payment card numbers, social security numbers, or health information through the contact form or chat.
12. Children
This site is intended for business owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Links to other sites
Our pages link to client websites, business directories, and software we recommend. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, governed by their privacy policy, not this one.
14. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged at the top of this page for at least 30 days.
